While holding tanks are suitable for some, they pose challenges such as limited capacity and the risk of illegal dumping when pump-out facilities are unavailable or non-operational. With the Purasan EX2, waste is treated immediately and discharged as compliant effluent, helping boaters avoid the hassles of full tanks or non-functioning pump-outs while maintaining responsible waste management practices.

The Purasan EX2 is a Type I Marine Sanitation Device (MSD) designed for use within the three-mile limit, where treatment is required before discharge. However, boaters must be mindful of No Discharge Zones (NDZs), where discharge of treated blackwater is prohibited. Navigators should consider their cruising areas, the availability of pump-out stations, and the time spent in NDZs to determine the ideal sanitation solution for their vessel.

The Purasan EX2 operates as a flow-through system, seamlessly connecting the toilet, treatment tank, and thru-hull fitting. During each flush, waste enters the treatment tank, where a precise amount of disinfectant is introduced to neutralize pathogens. Simultaneously, an equal volume of treated waste is discharged overboard. This efficient process eliminates the need for long-term storage, ensuring a cleaner and more convenient boating experience. New for the EX2 is the elimination of the manifold that was a part of the old tablet dispensing system making the dispensing system much more streamlined and efficient.
